Patients are in the midst of a telehealth love affair, which offers many growth opportunities for doctors in private practice. Now, it’s time to drill down into telehealth usage statistics to help us understand telehealth adoption rates and satisfaction levels to create a clear picture of how telemedicine is changing Australian healthcare.

As much of the nation faces tougher COVID-19 restrictions, telehealth uptake is once again soaring. Video consultations allow for continuity of care, building rapport, improving efficiencies, reducing costs and keeping the community safe.

A collaboration between Coviu, Visionflex, The University of Sydney and aged care providers are among the winners of the NSW Innovation District Challenge. The collaboration is leading the way to provide innovative solutions for aged care providers. This funding begins integrating Visionflex’s digital examination toolkit into the Coviu telehealth platform, which is used by over 60,000 clinicians in Australia. It will show proof of concept and support the development of strong collaborative ties. Two weeks ago, we had the honour to accept an award at the NSW Innovation Districts Challenges held at The Mint in Sydney.

As per the most recent federal budget announcement, the Australian Government are investing an additional $204.6 million to support continued access to universal telehealth for all Australians. This is a great move by the Government as video telehealth is a staple for many patients and practitioners prior to, during, and post the pandemic.

The healthcare industry is constantly evolving. More so than ever in the past year, where we saw a massive industry shift from in-person care to virtual care delivered via telehealth due to the worldwide pandemic. A shift that forced us to rely on a digital led society showing us that we are able to live in a blended digital and physical world.
