Consentic explains the procedure. Coviu gets the appointment ready.
Consentic was built by doctors for informed consent: animated procedure explanations, questions that check the patient understood and a signed record, including in hospital. Many specialist practices also use it for the forms patients fill in before an appointment: registration, routine consent and assignment of benefit. That is the job Coviu is built for. Coviu doesn’t handle hospital paperwork or forms that pass between clinicians and hospitals.
What is Coviu?
Coviu started as an Australian telehealth platform and has grown into a way to get every appointment ready. It sits beside your practice management system, sends each patient the forms their appointment type needs, reminds anyone who hasn’t finished and writes the answers into the patient record. One board shows your team what is still outstanding.
Works with Gentu, Halaxy, MediRecords, Cliniko and Nookal. Patients complete everything on their phone from one link, with no app or login.
What is Consentic?
Consentic is an Australian digital consent platform, founded by doctors in 2018. Its core is informed medical consent: peer-reviewed animated explanations of a procedure, questions that check the patient understood, electronic signing and a secure record of consent. Consentic says its approach is proven in two randomised controlled trials to improve patient knowledge and satisfaction, and that it facilitates one informed consent in Australia every three minutes.
It is used by proceduralists such as gastroenterologists and dermatologists, and by hospitals and clinical trials. Alongside consent, Consentic offers patient registration integrated with Gentu, a Medicare assignment of benefit consent workflow, digital forms and surveys, reminders and an admin dashboard for tracking completion. Data is stored on Australian servers.
This comparison is based on publicly available information and conversations with specialist practices, as at 28 September 2026. If you represent Consentic and believe anything here needs correcting, please contact us.

Which suits your practice?
Choose Consentic
Best for proceduralists, hospitals and clinical trials where the job is explaining a procedure and recording informed consent.
Consentic shows the patient a peer-reviewed animation of what will happen, asks questions to check they understood and records their consent. Consentic says two randomised trials show its approach improves what patients know about their procedure. It also handles consent completed in hospital or with a clinician, and forms that move between doctors and hospitals. Coviu doesn’t work in the hospital space and isn’t trying to.
Ideal for: practices where high-stakes procedural consent is the priority.
Choose Coviu
Best for specialist practices where the job is getting every appointment ready.
Most paperwork before a specialist appointment isn’t about explaining a procedure. It is registration, medical history, routine consent and assignment of benefit, for every patient, every time. Coviu sends the right forms by appointment type, reminds patients who haven’t finished, shows what is outstanding on one board and writes the answers into your PMS.
Coviu is only for forms your patients complete themselves. It doesn’t handle hospital paperwork or forms that pass between clinicians and hospitals.
Ideal for: specialist practices on Gentu, Halaxy, MediRecords, Cliniko or Nookal that use Consentic mainly for registration and forms.
Use both
If your clinicians rely on Consentic’s procedure animations, hospital consent or clinician-to-hospital forms, keep it for that. Move the forms your patients complete themselves before their appointment to Coviu.
Ideal for: proceduralists who need informed consent and want registration and assignment of benefit off the front desk.
Consentic vs Coviu FAQs
